CHELEBI provides a fresh view of Azerbaijan’s visual identity, bringing together tradition and modernity. All objects carry a strong bond with the local culture and history. Each CHELEBI item is handcrafted by local craftsmen — painters, sculptors, and artisans who draw inspiration from ancient techniques and cultural heritage.

The brand collaborates closely with the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, delving into a vast collection of applied art and presenting a modern interpretation of traditional forms, ornaments, colors, and materials.

This fusion of modern aesthetics and timeless traditions gives rise to creations that seamlessly combine contemporary allure with the rich tapestry of Azerbaijani ethnic style.

 Named after a mountain village in Karabakh, the brand unites the rich heritage of Azerbaijan with modern artistry.

CHELEBI was founded in 2013 by Aida Mahmudova, artist, founder and creative director of YARAT Contemporary Art Space.

ABOUT AIDA MAHMUDOVA

Aida Mahmudova is an artist and patron of Azerbaijani arts and design. She is the founder of CHELEBI, a brand specializing in collectible design and décor, and YARAT Contemporary Art Space in Baku. Her artistic practice explores themes of memory, place, and belonging through installation, sculpture, and painting.
Mahmudova earned a BA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins in London. Her work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including the Museum of Modern Art in Baku, MAXXI Museum in Rome, Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, and Gazelli Art House in London. Her pieces are part of private and museum collections worldwide.
